Please find below a list of the most popular bet types available to gamblers with the majority of bookmakers. As well as being used for betting on horse racing, most of the bet types can be used against other sports including greyhound racing, football, soccer, tennis, darts, snooker, golf and so on...

We advise extreme caution in the use of many of these bet types as they often put the odds massively in favour of the bookie. In particular, the combination bets like Canadian, Heinz, Yankee etc, are very risky as even 1 losing horse or selection can effectively wipe out most if not all of your potential profit.

Accumulator
1 bet on a number of selections. If the first is successful, all the winnings and stake are automatically re-invested on the next selection and so on. All selections must win for a return.

Bet In Play
Bet after an event has started. E.g. after kick off for football. Many bookmakers and exchanges provide odds for events while they are 'in play'. Can be used wisely to safeguard a bet or give the customer a chance to see some action before judging the likely outcome of an event.

Canadian / Super Yankee
26 Bets on 5 selections: 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 fourfolds, 1 fivefold. Care must be taken when using such bet types as often just 1 losing selection can massively affect the profit/loss of the bet overall !

Double
1 bet on 2 selections which must both win. All the winnings and stake from the first selection are re-invested as a single on the second.

Each-Way Single (EW)
2 bets. The 1st is on the selection to win only. The 2nd is on the selection to be placed. The place bet is settled as a fraction of the win odds. The fraction of odds and number of places various depending upon the type of race.

Forecast Tricast
3 selections to finish 1-2-3 in any order in a Tricast race.

Goliath
247 bets on 8 selections. 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 fourfolds, 56 fivefolds, 28 sixfolds, 8 sevenfolds, 1 eightfold.

Greyhound Placer
Pick a greyhound to be placed in each of the first or last 6 BAGS races at your nominated meeting.

Heinz
57 bets on 6 selections. 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 fourfolds, 6 fivefolds, 1 sixfold.

Lucky 15
15 bets on 4 selections. 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 fourfold.

Lucky 31
31 bets on 5 selections. 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 fourfolds, 1 fivefold.

Match Bets
Two runners in a race, e.g. horses are matched against each other in a special bet. You predict which one crosses the line first.

Reversed Forecast
Nominating which selections will finish in first and second in either order. (2 bets)

Straight Forecast
Nominating which selections will finish in first and second in the correct order.

Super Heinz
120 bets on 7 selections. 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 fourfolds, 21 fivefolds, 7 sixfolds, 1 sevenfold.

Trap Challenge
Pick the trap number that will have the most winners through the card at a specific greyhound meeting.

Treble
1 bet on 3 selections which must all win. All returns from the first selection are invested onto the 2nd selection, all returns from this are then invested in the last selection. All 3 selections must win for a return.

Tricast
Pick 3 horses or greyhounds to finish 1-2-3 in a race in the correct order.

Trixie
4 bets on 3 selections: 3 doubles, 1 treble.

Win Single
A bet on the winner of a race or event.

Yankee
11 bets on 4 selections: 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 fourfold.
